Victorian 2-1/4" Iridescent Etched Shade

The 116I is one of a handful of our glass shades which have an etched pattern with an iridescent finish. Iridescence is accomplished by spraying tin chloride onto the shade's surface while the glass is piping hot, just before it is taken to an annealing oven - a separate furnace which is used to control and prolong the cooling process. Look at the big picture, and you'll notice the shade's surface is similar to a soap bubble's. Ironically, the iridescence is most visible when the light is turned off.
