Granite fountains do not need to be taken down and stored or covered in the winter with unsightly tarps. However, once you finish creating a dazzling display of icicles, you will want to drain the basins to prevent the pump from freezing underwater. Sealing the fountain with a penetrating stone sealer is not required but is recommended once every few years for added weather resistance and for easy cleaning
