Partners in Education

Four higher education associations entered into an unusual joint venture to purchase and redevelop a building in downtown Washington, DC with Industrial Revenue Bond financing and a real estate tax exemption. Each of the four associations has its own specific mission yet all of them work towards one unifying goal ‚¬â€œ the promotion and support of higher education. They needed a coherently designed building that would cut occupancy costs, would provide sufficient space for frequent and varied meetings, and would be good for employee morale and productivity.Group Goetz Architects was hired to provide a coherent design plan for the entire building. Our services included programming for the four associations, as well as interior architecture and design, furniture purchase coordination, coordination of engineering, construction documentation, and construction administration. In addition to designing the individual associations' floors, our firm designed the public spaces that project a unified identity for the separate associations. These spaces include the reception area and ante room, a large boardroom, conference room, and a multipurpose room seating over 100 people.
