Artist Amanda Guest creates minimal line drawings on handmade paper. Upon request from Alon Langotsky, she has made a line of paper lampshades that are simultaneously minimal and sensual. The New York artist makes the paper from 100% Linen rag and cotton rag embedding threads or nails in the process. The lamps are a collaboration between Langotsky and Guest and have the unique combination of subtlety and presence that has been recognized in the artist's work. The combination of paper and stone mirror the artist's pursuit of the balance of feeling and structure. Once the lamp is illuminated, the silhouette of the threads and the layers of paper create a new "drawing" in three dimensions. Featured in Interior Design Magazine January 2000.
