LEED certified Franke Headquarters in USAFranke's commitment to sustainability is also embodied by its new US head office in Smyrna, TN: the new building, which opened with great celebrations in 2009, has been awarded a Silver Certificate for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)" by the United States Green Building Council.In its new building, Franke implemented a total of 33 measures that are beneficial for the environment, including: a white, heat-reflecting roof, so less cooling is required; marked preferential parking spaces for hybrid vehicles, bicycle stands, water-saving taps and toilets, non-toxic, environmentally-friendly paints, sealants and adhesives, a design that provides 90% of the personnel with natural light, solar panels and much more besides.Where hte sPlanar 8 sink is made:Fewer chemicals in cleaning processFaber in Fabriano (Italy) identified the cleaning systems water from the paint shop as one of the most critical wastes in terms of quantity and hazard. The phosphate products that are used in the degreasing acid solution to clean the metal sheets were substituted with less toxic substances. The results are impressive: Less chemical products used for passivation; increased product quality; and 50% reduction of waste water.
