River is named for the renowned waterways that cut through the landscape to create our magnificent canyons. The fabric's two-tone stripes mimic the textured surface found on the steep canyon walls. A Terratex ® product, River's mid-weight construction makes it suitable for all kinds of upholstery applications, and even for use on vertical surfaces such as panels, tack surfaces and wall coverings.While River looks and feels like an expensive wool fabric, it is actually woven of affordable 100% solution dyed recycled polyester yarns made from post-industrial waste material. The mill uses increasingly sustainable practices to ensure that the least amount of resources are used to produce a quality product. Because the fabric does not have any acrylic backing and can be melted down to a liquid state, it is also recyclable at the end of its useful life. Technologies will soon be available that will create new usable fiber out of the discarded material. Because the yarns are solution dyed, River's 6 earthy colorways are extremely lightfast and cleanable with harsh chemicals.A portion of all proceeds of River will be donated to nonprofit organizations dedicated to protecting natural habitats.
