Notes
The amount of solar radiation on skylight glazing is very significant and much higher than the incident solar radiation on vertical glazing, particularly during the summer months. Using an exterior shading solution radically reduces heat gain and cuts glare, providing a more comfortable environment inside the building and reducing the air conditioning loads and running costs. Often, however, these areas are very large and difficult to cover with a shading system.Draper’s Topspin retractable fabric shading system can be manufactured to almost 10'6" wide and can have draws in excess of 40' long. The Topspin can be used on the interior or the exterior and can shade large areas of glazing. It can be installed on horizontal, vertical or sloped glazing and can also shade barrel vaulted skylights. It is therefore a very versatile shading system. The system can be manufactured with a wide range of fabrics and can be deployed and retracted as required. The design of the system, comprising a series of fabric panels connected to spring rollers, means that it is wind resistant and, even when covering large areas can be used in wind speeds of up to 38 mph.
