It takes a skilled and thoughtful designer like Terence Woodgate to update a design as classic and craft-intensive as the Chesterfield sofa. In the handmade Lansdowne Sofa (2003), Woodgate has lowered the profile of the sofa and built a deep bench seat that provides ergonomic comfort to up to four people. The luxurious Victorian button tufting has been relegated to the seat back and arms to provide textural contrast and firm support. To produce the tufting, a time-honored technique is used in which each button is pulled through the padding of the backrest. The low shelter arm is at just the right height to lean an elbow on and promotes social interaction by serving as a casual perch. The soft Kvadrat fabric further updates the design with a linen-like, modern weave; a Teflon coating provides maximum stain resistance. Assembly included with our White Glove Service.
