This Brushed Nickel Silver and Polished Chrome Blue Crab Door Knocker was designed by Michael Healy, an accomplished Rhode Island artisan, known for his Unique Door Knockers. Nickel Silver is an alloy that has a warm silver color which is attained by adding nickel to bronze. Michael combines a high polished finish with brushed accents to generate a contemporary look. A stainless steel brush on a high speed lathe is used to create the brushed effects. The mirrored finish of polished nickel silver is achieved through varying degrees of sanding and buffing. Michael uses these techniques to highlight or accent the raised areas on a piece. Displaying this handsome sculpture will surely set any door apart while telling visitors of your special affinity to the bay.
Sustainability
The metals used in our products are recycled to minimize waste. The scrap generated by the production process is put back into the furnace to cast new items. The natural clays and sands used to make the molds are reused over and over and are non-toxic and environmentally friendly.
