BEST Sorpresa Vertigo Double Range Hood

Platinum Award
The BEST Sorpresa Vertigo Double may look like a designer chandelier or a contemporary art sculpture piece, but it is actually an Italian inspired island range hood. And viewers seem to agree in market surveys, as many guessed a chandelier when first asked to identify Vertigo Double. The smooth lines and gallery inspired shape foster conversation and inquiry; and gives discriminating kitchen designers and homeowners a way to make a striking artistic statement. In addition Vertigo Double increases air quality and enhances the cooking experience by providing key range hood benefits; such as lighting, filtration, protection of the cabinets and the removal of heat from the cooking area. The Vertigo Double Range Hood was inspired by the shape of the air itself and takes its inspiration from the vortexes of air that surround us as we breathe, ascending upward in a harmonious and fluid dance. It mirrors the circular motion of the air in the hood’s elegant, polished silver curves and is an ingenious way to pair the function of a range hood with a unique design.Vertigo Double is an air recirculation range hood (non-ducted only), using special filtration to reduce smoke and odors. It has a dual motor design which allows independent operation of the two blowers for focused filtration and perimeter aspiration which provides improved capture effectiveness and smooth surfaces to ease cleaning. This range hood has exceptional lighting that is provided by six 20-watt halogen lamps that can be used for either brilliant task lighting or low-level nighttime lighting. It has dual, four speed electronic pushbutton controls with lighted speed indicators to allow the user to easily discern what speed the hood is on. The control features a delay timer which automatically shuts off the range hood after a determined time to ensure all cooking contaminants have been evacuated from the kitchen. It also features a special control that indicates when it’s time to clean the filters for convenient maintenance.

In the midst of the Great Depression, two aggressive young men emerged with two new products that would make major contributions to the housing industry. In 1932, Henry Broan developed and manufactured a kitchen fan called the Motordor® Fan that provided quiet and efficient kitchen ventilation. His creation launched what is today known as Broan-NuTone LLC. Four years later, in 1936, J. Ralph Corbett developed a melodious door chime replacing the obnoxious door buzzer of the time. His development launched what is today known as NuTone, Inc. Both men, headquartered in the Midwest, started their companies with a simple product and a few employees. Each expanded their companies, creating revolutionary new products that provided unmatched conveniences for homeowners nationwide. Both companies quickly became global competitors and continued to provide innovative, superior products to meet the needs of consumers. In 1981, Broan Mfg. Co., Inc. was acquired by Nortek, Inc. and became the lead company of Nortek's Residential Building Products Group, which was named the Broan Group. During this same time period, NuTone was sold to Scovill Manufacturing in 1967 and was then acquired by Williams plc in 1991. In 1998, Nortek acquired NuTone, adding it to the Broan Group and renaming the group the Broan-NuTone Group. Then, in January 2000, Broan Mfg. Co., Inc. became Broan-NuTone LLC. Today, Broan-NuTone LLC leads the industry with forward-thinking residential ventilation products, customized climate, communications and storage solutions and superior customer service. Broan-NuTone is proud to acknowledge that over 80% of homeowners in the United States rely on one or more BROAN®, NuTone®, or BEST® products every day to provide them with superior indoor air quality and lifestyle conveniences.
