Casablanca This mosaic is based on an original black and white movie still. The graphic poster images are designed from period movie posters. They highlight many of the secondary players such as Peter Lorre, Paul Heinried and Sidney Greenstreet, as well as those people responsible for the production of the film. The poster image on the left has Ilsa in a dress made from rhodonite. In the central scene, Rick's tie is red jasper. The champagne glasses are made with an orange granite with white quartz for the stems. The screen in front of the piano is made from snowflake obsidian. The sheet music is hickoryite jasper. The window scene is made using sodalite and a geode material. The lampshade of the sconce/ashtray on the piano top is granite. On the poster to the right, the palm leaves are tumbled aventurine. The palm trunk is fossilized algae. Sidney Greenstreet's character is wearing a tie that is also made using leopardskin jasper. The remainder of the surface is created with ceramic tile.
