University Library Custom Designed Lounge Chair

Thank you in advance for your time. Please give me this opportunity to share a brief, true story about standard procedure here at BK Barrit.

In April of 2016, a well-known, nationally ranked University approached us with a request to match the design of a residential club chair and incorporate commercial construction criteria into it. They had just embarked on a 10 year program to update all of their facilities and needed a chair that was cost effective and could withstand the high traffic of a busy student library. By May, we had built a prototype and delivered it to their headquarters for approval. The rest of May and all of June we collaborated with their internal design team, the designer and the Librarian to fine-tune the details. In July we had the first order and delivered the final product in September.

From idea to installation, the process only took 5 months! I have included some pictures here..

Best of all, we saved the client over half of what they would have spent for the original. By thinking “outside the box”, the designer and the University came out looking like heroes!
