As the parent company of Cox Broadcasting and Cox Newspapers, Cox Enterprises is one of the largest media conglomerates in the United States ‚¬â€œ publishing 16 daily newspapers, running about a dozen TV stations, and more than 50 radio stations. The idea for the Washington Bureaus of these two separate organizations was to develop a unified Washington presence. The two groups are very different in terms of work environment: * Cox Broadcasting is a high-energy, team operation with concurrent deadlines throughout the typical day. * Cox Newspapers is a more quiet, creative writing environment with more autonomy among its writers and editors.Although the bureaus share the reception area and other common office spaces, it was very important that the two groups maintain separate identities and operations. The design of Cox Communications' new space has effectively joined two organizations, allowing for independent operation of two related, but different groups and encouraging interaction and resource sharing between bureaus at the same time. The result is a clean professional, technically oriented environment that reflects each group's creative image and functional requirements.
